European Tour 2011

Brian Chambers24th Apr to 2nd May 2011

A pleasant flight saw the Society fly into Malaga airport on time and ready to do battle for the European Tour 2011 and the ‘Skoda Trophy’.

Our Tour agent had decided to make some changes to our golf at the last minute due to his business being about to crash! A sign of the times?

European Tour Round 1

was at Rio Real and on a very hot and sunny day young David Jeffrey Jnr beat Davy McCulloch on a bih.

European Tour Round 2

was at Anoretta and was again a hot day with Roy Johnston winning clearly on 33pts.

A day off saw us drinking too much as usual and suffering for it!

European Tour Round 3

was at Torrequebrada where we were treated like ‘Royalty’ by the staff and they even put a prize up for us amongst other things. I would highly recommend this course to anybody although the tees were very far back and suited the low handicapper which is why Ian Fraser (a long hitter) was a hot favourite and won on this day with 35pts, well ahead of the field.

European Tour Round 4

at Santa Maria was abandoned due to torrential rain which was unfortunate for John McKay who had 17pts after 7 holes! We replayed on the Sunday free of charge where Brian Chambers romped home with a score of 38pts to win the outing, the European Tour and the ‘Skoda Trophy’ beating Stuart Mackie like last year. Brian will keep the trophy if he wins again next year.

European Tour Results Summary

  • Rio Real
    • Winner – D.Jeffrey Jnr – 31pts – bih
  • European Tour Overal Winner
    • B.Chambers – 95pts

Here’s to next years European Tour wherever it takes us!
