Society Golfing CrestEdinburgh Airport Taxis Golfing Society is a Scottish Golfing Society. It was formed around 1995 by a taxi-driver called ‘Jimmy Hopper’ who thought it was a good idea because a lot of the ‘cabbies’ played golf and it would be a good break away from the taxi-rank at Edinburgh Airport. In those days the rank was a lot smaller and initial membership of the Golfing Society was around the 15 to 20 mark. At present we have over 40 members and take an average of 30 to each Golf Event.

Our Golf Season

2012 was a bad year due to miserable weather and the cancellation of golf events due to this weather. Season 2013 has yet to be decided but it is hoped it will start in April and end in September again.

All Events will be Stableford competitions

As well as prizes at each Event we collect Player of the Year points. The player with the highest number of Stableford points from 5 out of 6 Events at the end of the season is the Player of the Year.

In addition to all these events we try to get abroad for a week each year for the EuroTour and get a long weekend closer to home for the Highland Tour.

We also play a Summer Singles Matchplay competition
